Kaliningrad region governor starts his visit to Belarus with memorial “Khatyn”

13.06.2025

On June 8, 2025, Kaliningrad region governor Alexey Besprozvannykh visited memorial complex “Khatyn”  as part of his visit to Belarus. He arrived here with a delegation from Russian region a few hours after landing.

The complex's employees gave the distinguished guests a tour of the memorial and museum. Accompanied by Deputy Chairman of Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Ilyasevich, the head of Kaliningrad region laid flowers at the foot of the sculpture "Unconquered Man" and the Eternal Flame. The delegation members honored the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.

Alexey Besprozvannykh left a note in the Book of Honored Guests, expressing gratitude for preserving the memory of the courage and heroism of fraternal peoples.

"Khatyn" is a special place in Belarus. We must remember the exploits of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers, the sacrifices made by the Soviet people," the governor emphasized. "The scale and grandeur of this memorial are astounding. From the first minutes of being here, you want to remain silent - the tragedy of that time is felt in every stone, even in the air. Many thanks to the staff of the complex and President Alexander Lukashenko for preserving our common history."

The head of Kaliningrad region was in Khatyn for the first time. And, as he admitted, he was most impressed by the part of the complex where the cemetery of villages is located:

- So, in one place, you understand the scale of the terrible tragedy that occurred during the Great Patriotic War, and what people had to endure at that time, how much grief befell them.
